I instinctively grabbed this shot when I saw it, marching as I was, on a whirlwind guided city tour. The compositional lines of the pavement curb and umbrellas receding into the shot are really pleasing and the fact that they are centralised on the left edge of the frame works well. The shining wet street and the main couple in the shot particularly caught my eye at the time and I just knew there was something there. A shame I couldn’t stop to make more of it but I am pleased with what I managed to grab considering. Recently, a friend suggested I tried to make something of it as it was originally a little dark on the faces of the cafe-goers. This is the result. I wonder what the conversation was…..
