I have been listening to some of my usual podcasts today whilst working on things. A couple really struck a chord with me.
I’ve been listening to the Sunny 16 Presents podcast on Digital Film Photography. In episode 4 the hosts interviewed Todd Karol who talked about his use of film and digital photography and when and why he uses each. He questions why people ask which technology a shot was taken on when it’s the output result that matters. This really hit the mark for me. A very eloquent and clear demolition of this line of questioning. The 5 episode series was interesting in its entirety but episode 4 stood out as particularly incisive. I would recommend listening to it.
The Photowalk is also a regular listen for me. This week Neale James speaks to Steve Reeves about his motives for talking to those that he photographs in the street, particularly older citizens. Steve makes the point that our older generation have much wisdom that can be passed on and that modern society ignores this. Under previous societal norms, this was a key way that knowledge and advice were passed onto the younger generation and that this has now been lost and this ‘learning’ now comes from adverts, social media and websites. Steve analysis of this is quite powerful and insightful, definitely worth a listen.
