Writing flash fiction

Recently, I was introduced to the concept of ‘Flash Fiction’ whilst on a writing course with Ian Hill and Rob Knight (https://www.rkphotographic.com/the-word). I quite enjoyed the concept and wrote a few pieces as part of the the ‘work’ for the ‘shop’. I thought I would post them here, so over the coming weeks you may begin seeing these and other efforts at the written word in combination with imagery. In addition to pure fiction, writing related to the imagery as a small, self-contained expression, feels very freeing and helps better articulate the feelings attempting to be illustrated. The fictional element can be missing, subtle or totally overt but adds fun license to how the image may be read. This can lead to alternative interpretations and impact for the imagery, leading the photographer to new ideas and ways of thinking.

Writing is a key element of expression for me and something I am keen to develop further. The combination of prose and imagery can be very powerful, each helping to project and emphasise the other. Much like photography, writing requires time, practice and some confidence to post it but I hope you enjoy reading and seeing my work as it develops.
