The natural order of things

I came across this image in my collection recently and now can’t stop studying it. Now dissociated from any thoughts I had at the time of taking, I see the picture for its content, its composition, its colour. The richness of the browns and greens, the details of the frost picking out each vein of the leaves, the balance of the composition, emits an over-riding sense of stillness, quietness and calm. Looking at this image makes me feel grounded. It shows the natural order of things, speaks of real life, of time, taking time, appreciation, wonder, and waiting, without hurry. This lack of a sense of urgency is cathartic in these fast-paced times. Giving a sense that beneath the overwhelm, real life, the important stuff, the processes of time immemorial, continue assuredly, at their own pace, the natural pace, in the natural order of things, and we can reconnect to these by simply taking the time to stop and observe.
