GLORY LIGHT vs STORY LIGHT
Having focussed more on project-based imagery in recent times, rather than singular imagery, it seems to me that there is a difference in the type of ideal lighting for each. Whereas singular impact images often require that ‘glory light’ typical of the golden hour, project based imagery benefits more from a consistent quality of lighting, more ‘story light’, with a more subtle quality that doesnt detract attention from the message of the imagery.
Perhaps this reflects my favour for expressing myself through B&W imagery rather than colour, where the quality of light and contrast is what to me, makes a successful image with spirit and character.
